The Consortium will be conducting a  Regional Conference for Health and Health-related completed studies in the Graduate and Undergraduate levels on May 22, 2014 at the ATI Hall in Benguet State University. The regional conference has two objectives:

1. To provide an interactive space for graduate and undergraduate students to present their completed studies (thesis, dissertation); and

2. To serve as  venue for dissemination to the public,  research- based understanding and solution to health and well-being problems.  Later, these will be uploaded to the HERDIN as part of the region’s data base and information system.

 In this regard, may we call for submission of three completed studies from your institution either all coming from your graduate school, undergraduate, or a combination?  Themes may cover health, health-related, environmental health, food and health, IKSP and well-being, agriculture and health, among others.  In all, we will be getting two (2) completed researches and one (1) poster from each of the participating institutions.  Researches that have undergone ethical clearance will have chances of participating in  in the 8th Philippine National Health Research System Week celebration in August 2014. The guidelines can be downloaded from the download section of our website.

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and the Department of Health (DOH) are hosting the 1st Philippine eHealth Summit on 30 October 2013.

With the theme “eHealth– Exploiting ICT for Better Health,” the Summit aims to be a platform for exchange of information and expertise on what had been done and current initiatives on eHealth in the country. It will feature the Philippine eHealth Strategic Framework and Plan to gather stakeholders’ inputs and buy-in.

As part of its program, undergraduate and graduate students as well as professionals are invited to join the Poster Exhibit Contest on researches and projects, which use ICT for Health.

Good news for those who want to study abroad! The ASEAN Foundation (AF) and Chulabhorn Graduate Institute have signed an agreement to develop highly qualified human resources in the area of science and technology within ASEAN member countries through the Chulabhorn Graduate Institute – ASEAN Foundation Post-Graduate Scholarship program in Science and Technology.

Five scholarships for ASEAN Nationals are offered for the following Master’s degree programs:

  1. Applied Biological Sciences: Environmental Health;
  2. Environmental Toxicology;
  3. Chemical Biology

The application for the CGI-AF Scholarship Program is due on 30 October 2013.

Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (PCHRD)

Purpose: The Department of Science and Technology (DOST), through PCHRD, and the Department of Health (DOH) are bidding to host the 2014 Global Health Research Forum. Hence, the agencies need a logo design that would represent and embody the theme of the 2014 Global Forum, “People at the Center of Health and Health Research.”

Guidelines:

  1. The contest is open to all interested parties except to employees and relatives of employees (up to the third degree of consanguinity) of DOST-PCHRD and DOH.
  2. The logo design must adhere to the Global Health Research Forum’s theme.
  3. The logo design must be suitable for printing and online usage.Participants are required to submit a full-color and a black and white version of their design.
  4. Entries must be received via regular mail c/o Ullyann Carticiano-Garcia, PCHRD-DOST, 3F DOST Main Bldg., Gen.   1. The selection committee retains the right to approve the final design. Criteria for judging the logo design includes:

  1. The organizers obtain exclusive ownership, copyright, and control over the use of the original winning design in all forms and formats. The organizers may reproduce in any format, all or any portion of the design, and distribute any reproductions of the logo design.
  2. The winning entry will receive a cash prize of P10,000.
  3. The winning artist will be notified thru phone call or mail.
  4. Deadline for submission of entries is until March 7, 2013.

Stakeholders of health research will convene for the 13th National Forum on Health Research for Action to be held on November 20 and 21, 2012 at the Pan Pacific Hotel, Manila.  With the theme “Kalusugan Pananaliksik para sa Kalusugan Pangkalahatan (KP4KP), the forum willshowcase evidence from research as necessary inputs for the development of policies towards the achievement of Universal Health Care goals.
