Three research entries from SOCCSKARGEN Region will compete for oral presentation and for poster exhibit contest during the 7th Philippine National Health Research System (PNHRS) Week celebration on 7-9 August 2013, Plaza del Norte Hotel and Convention Center, Laoag City.
Dr. Zenaida P. HR Laidan, DOST 12 Regional Director said the entries include: Anticoagulant and Antianglogenic Potentials of Clarias gariopinus Burch (African Catfish) by Ralph Angelo R. Abanto et al, Bioactivity of Commonly Used Medicinal Plants by T’bolis of South Cotabato by Jaybee M. Basy et al for the student category and Health and Lifestyles of Indigenous and Moro Aged People in SOCCSKSARGEN by Dr. Inoray Dindang-Osop from the professional category.
She said, the latter project was among the researches which was implemented in 2012 through the DOST-PCHRD’s Regional Research Fund (RRF) initiative and was presented and reviewed by the DOST-PCHRD Consultants during their visit in General Santos City last April 2013 for the "Institution Development Activities in Region 12" project under the SOCCSKSARGEN Health Research and Development Consortium.
Themed “People at the Center of Health and Health Research”, the celebration will be hosted by the Region 1 Health Research and Development Consortium, the PNHRS Week celebration will provide a platform for the different stakeholders in health R&D to interact, to learn from each other, to share information and experiences, to voice their concerns, to contribute research-based solutions to health problems, among other things.
PNHRS Week is held annually every second week of August by virtue of Presidential Proclamation No. 1309 signed in 2007.
