The United Cities and Local Governments Asia-Pacific (UCLG ASPAC) Conference for 2017 is hosted by the City Government of Catbalogan City, Philippines. It has at least ten different activities conducted simultaneously at various venues in the City of Catbalogan. One of these activities is the holding of S&T fair which is co-facilitated by the Samar State University (SSU), Department of Education (DepEd 8), Department of Science and Technology (DOST 8) and the Eastern Visayas Consortium for Industry and Energy Research and Development (EVCIERD).

This event is expected to be participated by researchers and exhibitors mostly from Region 8, and some parts of the country. This year's event has theme "Kauswagan Kalibutan: Creating Connection for Sustainable Societies".

The S&T Fair consists of exhibits, poster and paper presentation. A total of eight booths, more than 60 research posters, fifteen research presentation, a robotic showcase/exhibit and at least three keynote speech is at stake for everyone. The fair focuses on projects related to Climate Change and Adaptation; Disaster Risk Reduction and Management; Alternative Energy and Science and Technology Innovations; and Robotics for Environment.
